• Tuan was born in Vietnam in 1963 to an aristocratic family where he began to sculpt at an early age.

• During the fall of Saigon (1975), the Vietnamese Government took all of his family’s wealth.

• In 1985, Tuan was placed in concentration camp in Vietnam for attempting an escape to America.

• While in the concentration camp, Tuan created sculptures for officials from the dirt floor of his cell and water. The warden was so overcome with Tuan’s talent that he aided Tuan in escaping from Vietnam to the Philippines.

• While in the Philippines refugee camp, Tuan continued to sculpt to raise money to purchase his passage to America.

• Tuan’s sculptures “Triumph” and the maquette of the Vietnam Memorial are in the permanent collection of the White House, Washington, D.C.

• His sculpture “Rendezvous” is represented in the permanent collections of the Pasadena Museum of Art.

• Tuan’s work is also exhibited in the MOCA Museum.

• Tuan received the Gloria Medal from the National Sculpture Society of New York for a meritorious body of work.

• Tuan has completed a public commissioned 15-foot Vietnam Memorial monument installed for the City of Westminster, commemorating the partnership between American and Vietnamese soldiers during the Vietnam War.

• Tuan was commissioned for a memorial bust for the Nicole Brown Simpson Charitable Foundation in 1997.

• Trinidad government commissioned Tuan for a monumental installation of the sculpture “Four Elements” in 2007.

• Kuhn Development Corporation in Orlando, FL, commissioned and installed the monumental sculptures of “Four Elements,” “Triumph,” “Romantic Harmony,” “Reminiscence,” “Rendezvous,” “Melody,” “Meditation,” “Memory,” and “Euphoria” in October 2006.

• Tuan has completed a public commissioned 18-foot Cathedral Installation titled Saint Therese “The Little Flower.” This monument was installed for the Little Flower Catholic Church in Mobile, Alabama in April 2008.

• A novel based on the life and art of Tuan, to be penned by a well-known art journalist, is on the horizon.

• Masterpiece Publishing, Inc., is in the development stage of an art book devoted exclusively to Tuan’s works.

• Hollywood and PBS are in the process of writing the script for an upcoming movie based on the life of Tuan.
